Housing

Scheme

Each terraced house features its own roof-top garden. Both the terracing and garden reduce heat loss whilst make the best use of space. The relatively small footprint of each house reduces the price making them more affordable but dense enough to make a profit. All the houses back onto public land featuring retention ponds in a bid to re-assert community owned space and has been designed pull the occupants outside and into the bigger community area. Parking is close to the road and fills the spaces between the horse shoe shapes.

The school and local centre are placed close to the A46 to stop large amounts of non-residential traffic passing through the site. The buildings will be architecturally sympathetic to Cheltenham town-houses, and once rendered can be painted any colour by the occupants. The streets will be made from concrete setts with a granite aggregate; a contemporary yet classical look that should slow traffic due to its rough finish.
